As the surveyor's workplace evolves so must our methods.Over the course of my career in surveying I was trained to use the conventional total station and auto level in a two man crew scenario before learning to operate as a one man crew with a robotic total station. The majority of work preformed with this instrumentation was ALTA surveys, As-Builts, flood certifications and construction layout.However, I have been fortunate enough to work for two companies that have stayed on the cutting edge of technology within the field of land surveying. These oppurtunites have allowed me to work on projects that incorporate a blend of conventional total station surveying with technologies that include GPS, 3-Dimensional Laser Scanning and the Amberg railway trolley system. The projects in their scope and complexity have grown exponentially. The combination of that training and technology coupled with a strong work ethic have helped to produce a very well rounded and dependable field survey technician. I look forward to the challenges that the future of land surveying will present.
