I work with a group of uber smart people, and together we manage one of the largest astronomical data collections in the world. Our goals are to have more astronomical images than there are cat pictures on the internet, and to make scientifically valuable images easier to find than your favourite cat picture.I oversee the operations group within the Canadian Astronomy Data Center, and am responsible for ensuring that data coming from the telescopes that Canada owns or is partnered with is ingested in our collections, that the data is verified and secure once received, and is available to astronomers in Canada and around the world. This is done through my team working closely with the CADC's development team, who write the applications and services that make the flow of data possible, and with the CADC's captive scientists, who curate the data collections and work with the telescopes and astronomers to ensure our services are providing the needed functionality. I also manage the work done by the IT teams who support our infrastructure.

I worked at the Museum as the systems administrator and a fly-by-night researcher within the Division of Physical Sciences, which included the Department of Geology and the Department of Astrophysics. I managed the science workstations and servers used by the Division to conduct their research. I also worked closely with the Museum's IT team, and eventually helped rebuild and co-manage the computational clusters used by many researchers at the Museum.
