Having commenced my engineering career with the Ministry of Works and Development (some time ago), I have had a variety of roles over the years in local government, private sector, utility contracting, and engineering consulting. I have always had a keen interest in new technologies and make a point of staying current, as best I can, in new developments in the digital arena, IoT, AI, and real-world applications for decentralised distributed ledger technologies, particularly in relation to water accountability, leveraging blockchain technology. This explains my occasional departure from engineering to; study Computer Science at Waikato University, working with Peter Perreaux developing high-end power mosfet audio amplifiers, and the establishment of WWWeb Ltd in 2000, which among other things developed web-based environmental monitoring solutions. More recently my time was dedicated to the efforts of earthquake recovery in Canterbury (mainly 3 Waters and civil infrastructure). I also held a couple of governance roles with Blockchain New Zealand and Habitat for Humanity, both of which aligned well with my interests and values, respectively. Pleased to be engaged in the work being undertaken by the Crown Infrastructure Partners to advance infrastructure delivery in New Zealand and supporting the recovery from the North Island weather event in 2023.
