Retail Account Executive:Symington’s Ltd Account Executive 2009-2010Worked within an account executive role focusing on ambient dry food retail. Responsible for three major contracts including Morrison’s, Tesco and Iceland. My main responsibilities included working alongside account managers to monitor, evaluate and develop new and existing lines, taking into account the economic and market climate. The role is also heavily focussed on logistics and service level management. Ensuring the customer receives what they require, on-time, and at the right quantity and quality.The role thoroughly increased my communicational skills including written, verbal and presentational, as well as IT. Within the position constant use of software packages such as Excel, MSD and SAGE where needed in order to monitor sales, and prepare tender documentation for potential NPD, and help in negotiation deals for new and existing range launches.

Buying:Morrison’s Supermarkets PLC Undergraduate Buyer 2007-2008Responsible within a team for formulating relationships with manufacturers and wholesale distributors, monitoring sales and inventory of stores, extensively researching variants, selecting and purchasing products, attending trade shows, travelling to current supplier factories, identifying target consumer markets and tailor making products to their specific needs, and managing stock availability closely with the relevant supplier. One of my main achievements throughout the year was designing an own label men’s skincare equivalent of the brand, ‘L’Oreal Men Expert’. This was a huge financial risk for the company as it was a niche own label range, but proved a huge success and was distributed to all 316 stores across the UKI also worked on a ‘canned meat’ project during my placement within the canned food trading department, and due to my enthusiastic involvement within the assignment was asked to participate in a board review with the relevant buyer and directors, including Ken Morrison and Marc Boland. Overall, Morrison’s work experience has given me a broad understanding of the retail industry.
