Database migration from Sybase 12.0 on NT to 12.5 on Solaris: I was responsible for the design, implementation and testing of the process to migrate the data to a new platform. The process migrated all data structures, compiled objects and data and was implemented in korn shell using a combination of BCP and CIS to perform parallel data transfer. After implementing the process I transferred to a permanent role with Global Equities to take up a production support role monitoring critical processes with the aim of implementing tools to help improve the efficiency of the department as well as migrate various processes to a new Solaris box.Technical skills used: Sybase, T-SQL, korn shell, Perl, Solaris, Visual Basic, Excel (Including VBA development)

This role involved responsibility for technical support for a real-time bond-trading platform and associated support systems as well as the development of new data feeds, data reconciliation and ad hoc development of reporting. I was required to liaise with Client Services, ensure compliance criteria were met and deal with traders and dealers to resolve technical problems. This was a hands on role involving on the fly problem solving, Solaris and Sybase administration, performance tuning and trading system configuration.
