Responsible for the prelaunch as well as the Entry into Service (EIS) for both the -900 and -1000 aircraft nacelle configurations. Leading the quality role in negotiating the means of compliance to customer invoked requirements delivered through the contract. I was responsible for the arrangements at the supply chain as well as the configuration planning, the MRB planning and the acoustic requirements invoked. I also led the team in defect reduction with a goal of zero defects. The level of reduction was in excess of 40% within the first year of entry which enabled UTAS to realize profits early in the launch; a financial milestone previously never met in the business. I serve as the liaison between the UTAS program office and global supply chain, facilitating discussions as well as mediating and arbitrating negotiations with European and Asian suppliers

Leadership of the bargaining unit work force along with the MRB engineering department and the day to day operations of the Goodrich manufacturing plant. During my tenure I was responsible for NADCAP and AS9100 compliance efforts. Managing the heat treat process along with NDT and a large chemical processing capability, transitioning out processes where the overhead of the process was determined to exceed the cost of maintaining the operation (X-Ray and Mag Particle).

I was involved in the retro-fit campaign to re-engine the aging C5 fleet for the military as well as the Joint Strike Fighter MEC duct part which was initially engineered by Goodrich. This part was responsible for the redirecting of airflow to enable the hover mode of the aircraft. Coordinating all approvals and activities with Pratt and Whitney to include process approvals for manufacturing sites as well as customer reviews.

Implemented AS9100 at an accelerated pace of 4 months (normal pace would be closer to 12 months). Managed BAE/Lockheed C-130 avionics retrofit program. Managed the implementation of the process and heat treat line into the facility and coordinated customer approval activity to include NADCAP. Realigned the shipping process to eliminate waste and redundancy. Achieved quality performance measures with company primes exceeding 99%.

Kearny Mesa, Ca

Managed the Shipping, Receiving and Quality departments for a company with revenues of approximately 40 million per year. Responsible for gaining NADCAP accreditation for flash butt weld and heat treat processes. Continuous process improvement utilized to stream line flash butt weld flow. Re-organized the shipping department to allow for a more effective flow of shipments, which resulted in increased cash flow. Reduced external escapes to less than 1%. Implemented AS9100. Using lean techniques, improved process flows resulting in a workforce reduction of 10% while increasing productivity and profit.

Facilitated the integration of the nacelle package from large overseas partners (ex: Hispano Suiza, Short Brothers) for the MD90 program. Coordinated MRB and corrective action with manufacturers of fan cowls, inlets, translating sleeves and inner fixed structure. Performed compliance audits of domestic and overseas manufacturing facilities. Maintained quality interface with customer and FAA/CAA contacts. Managed overall quality plan for integration of nacelle packages. Implemented corrective action plans and MRB activities. Worked with regulatory agencies during type certification of various new programs.
