My main role at AVX was supporting the R&D team in the Sensing and Control group to build and test prototypes. A varied role in which I sourced suppliers, purchased materials and components, and used my skills in mechanical, electrical build and SMT PCB assembly to build test rigs and samples.Highlights: I am a co-inventor of new technology that we have developed (patent CN111947692 A) to enable inductive sensors to function in close proximity to dampers by using ferrite structures to cloak the metal of the damper. In the last year I coordinated the relocation of our office and lab. Liaising with our landlord, and sourcing contractors for building works, office furniture and network infrastructure. organising disposal and recycling of chemical and electrical waste finding companies that would collect repurpose or recycle at low or no cost to the company.

At Cambridge Mechatronics I used my skills in microfabrication to build prototype Auto Focus and Optical Image Stabilization modules for mobile phone cameras. Providing input into design and build procedures, so that the technology can be transferred to customers manufacturing facilities. This involved making and modifying jigs and test equipment. Dealing with suppliers of components and equipment. Writing procedures and training customers.

TTPLabtech A division of TTP which develops lab equipment for the pharmaceutical industry.Responsibilities were building and testing the products. This involved mechanical, electrical, laser optical alignment, PC setup, functional and safety testing in the production department. Writing build and test procedures and associated paperwork. Working with the design team on R&D projects to improve the products.

The Technology Partnership (TTP) is a leading independent product innovation business.The Printing Technology Division (PTD) develops novel printing technologies. Responsible for making and assembling prototype print heads (clean room environment). Providing input in to design and build. Making modifications and building of equipment and dealing with the suppliers of components and equipment. Developed skills in plasma cleaning, photo lithography, laminated resists, high vacuum evaporators, electroplating, wire bonding, ACF bar bonding of FPC’s and laminating of precision ceramic components, measuring microscopes.

Mettler Toledo provider of automated chemistry systems used in drug and chemical compound discovery and development that facilitates the synthesis of large numbers of chemical compounds in parallel.A Member of the build and installation team for the myriad core system, I was solely responsible for the build and setting up and testing of the remote incubator machine.

TTPLabtech A division of TTP which develops lab equipment for the pharmaceutical industry.Part of the team taken on to build the machines for Mettler Toledo Myriad with option to follow the technology when production was transferred over to Mettler.

Diomed Ltd develops and produces Diode Lasers for medical and industrial applications.Manufacturing optical units for Diomed lasers and related parts, sub-assemblies and accessories (clean room environment). Inspection and testing, equipment Maintenance. Input to design in respect of ease of assembly and cost saving. Writing build and test procedures performed in the optics lab. Process validation.

Melbourn Scientific is a contract analytical laboratory working to Good Laboratory Practise standards.Responsible for ordering and maintaining stock of solvents for lab. Negotiating with suppliers. Achieved reduction in supply costs of 25%. Continued to improve on skills and experience in HPLC, GC, IR, dissolution testing, physical testing and techniques to analyse Inhaled Drugs.

Ethical Pharmaceuticals developed and produced novel drug delivery systems.Initially employed in the Stability Lab, analysing drug products. Latterly assisted in the setting up of the Quality Control Lab for the pilot production plant at Littleport, which manufactured Trans Dermal Devices. This involved assisting in setting up records and procedures and equipment.

Metal Crystals & Oxides manufactured customised crystals of metals and their oxides.Responsible for service and repair of the equipment. Operated specialised equipment for growing and machining crystals. These were high vacuum pullers, spark erroders, diamond saws and x-ray diffraction.
