Professor
John Springer is a Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Technology (CIT) at Purdue University. His main research area is Data Science with recent emphasis on data-intensive applications in Cybersecurity, and he serves as the leader of the Purdue DATA Laboratory. Dr. Springer currently serves in a variety of leadership roles at Purdue; these include as the Graduate Education Committee chair in CIT, co-chair of CIT's Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, and the co-chair of Purdue’s Integrative Data Science Initiative (IDSI) Curriculum Committee. He is also currently a member of Purdue’s University Senate and previously served as the Software and Data Curricular Subcommittee chair in CIT as well as a member of Purdue’s Graduate Council from 2019 to 2022 and the Council's Area Committee B Chair in 2021-2022.Dr. Springer also led the Information Security Research and Education (INSuRE) project from 2016-2019; INSuRE is a national consortium of universities, governmental organizations, and laboratories that cooperatively engages students in addressing cybersecurity research problems. He served as an Assistant Professor at Purdue from 2006 to 2011, an Associate Professor at Purdue from 2011 to 2019, and the Assistant Department Head for Graduate Education and Research in CIT from 2015-2017.
