John has over 15 years’ post-graduate experience in applied water resources management, urban development, and infrastructure planning and design in both technical and project management roles. His understanding of risk and resilience lends itself to disaster and climate risk identification and adaptation planning at a range of scales from communities to regions.John has a technical background in hydrology and hydraulics, and has undertaken numerous flood, drought and climate risk assessments for public and private sector clients, NGOs and IFIs. John spent a considerable time living and working across Asia contributing to city and regional integrated urban development plans and resilient infrastructure development projects before moving to the US and working with public sector clients there. John is now based in the UK and has recently been developing climate adaptation projects for the water sector and supporting cities, regions, and SIDS (Small Island Developing States) in adapting to climate change. He has been involved in the full project cycle of water/environmental infrastructure, from research and policy development, through investment planning, concept development, feasibility, design, specification, permitting and compliance, construction supervision, and commissioning. John is experienced in developing projects (and guidance material for projects) where resilience and nature-based solutions are fundamental to the design.John has been recognized for technical excellence in project delivery: his work for World Bank in Banaba, under the Kiribati (Climate) Adaptation Project, was nominated for Outstanding International Development Project 2013 at the British Expertise International Awards.
