• Perform sales & use tax audits of businesses in various industries involving complex fortune 500 taxpayers.• Reconcile general ledger accounts to appropriate supporting documentation, research discrepancies and propose correcting entries as necessary.• Examine and analyze the taxpayers’ books and records for compliance with Texas tax laws, regulations, legal rulings, accounting principles, and auditing procedures.• Conduct entrance conferences to identify availability of records and to review and understand taxpayer’s accounting system and conduct exit conferences to discuss findings and explain taxpayer rights.• Prepare audit reports that include work papers, schedules, comments, and supporting documentation, detailing the audit findings through the use of computer applications.• Determines scope of audit and develops audit plan, which includes but not limited to, testing of internal controls and appropriate reconciliations.• Prepares detailed reports of audit findings, including recommendations and documentation; consults with supervisor and finalizes review of completed audits.
