Currently I am an Assistant Headteacher in Birmingham with responsibility for Teaching & Learning, CPD, NQTs & Teacher training, PM and quality assurance. The ideas and strategies you will find on the site have been compiled from nearly 20 years of teaching and have all been used within my current post leading to an improved Ofsted outcome and the school being highlighted as the 'most improved' in Birmingham. Having originally started my career in Birmingham, I have taught in a range of secondary schools around England of varying social and economic backgrounds and held a range of leadership positions. In 2010 I qualified as an AST and through my outreach work I have supported a range of secondary schools in improving the quality of teaching and learning. Also as part of this role, I have been involved in NQT support for Birmingham LEA. More recently, I have worked with Teach First, PGCE and School Direct students and several TSAs. All of this has helped to develop the ideas and tools you will find around the Standout Teaching website.

Qualifying in 2010, I worked for the LEA and a range of South Birmingham Network schools to support improvements within Design Technology. Supporting individuals and whole departments, I have helped support departmental improvement on a range of issues from teaching and learning through to health and safety. Working for the LEA I was an advisor for NQTs in relation to Design Technology.

Standout Teaching is an online resource designed to support the planning of outstanding lessons. Incorporating the Lesson Plan Creator, an online tool to build, download and resource lesson plans, the aim is to save teachers time and support them in being creative with their lesson structures.
