I'm thrilled to be joining Santa Rosa Junior College at Petaluma as their new, full-time, tenure-track Sociologist. I'm teaching Intro to Sociology, Social Problems, and Race and Ethnic Relations this Fall, and couldn't be more happy to have landed at one of the topic community colleges in the country!

Fellowship, Education Partnership for Internationalizing Curriculum (EPIC), sponsored by Stanford University in partnership with College of San Mateo and Foothill College (see also http://ow.ly/J59R30bO9SW). Before my EPIC project, less than 10% of my Introduction to Sociology curriculum was internationally focused. Now, more than 40% of the syllabus incorporates international themes and studies.

I've been fortunate to serve as an Assistant Professor (term appointments) at USF in the 2013-14 and the 2015-16 Academic Years (AYs). My course loads included (non-exhaustive) Intro2Sociology, Deviance and Social Control, Sexuality, Gender, Religious Change and Conflict, Social Movements and Documentary Films, and Sociology Capstone (a Service Learning course). I also initiated the "Reel Stories" documentary series, and was an integral part of the self-study within the Faculty Learning Community on Student Engagement.

My dissertation focuses on how documentary filmmakers operate as social activists through their filmmaking processes and techniques. I'm also worked closely with the distribution collective New Day Films and studied their innovative organizational and collective identity processes.

• Providing leadership in promoting General Education/Transitional Studies curriculum through new promotional events; supporting vision and development of a multi-year “Speaking and Writing in the Disciplines” (SWID) Program, and: expanding course offerings in the Program (covering traditional areas of a Liberal Arts education).• Recruiting, developing and supervising a team of faculty and staff, including: recruitment, supervision, and evaluation of four full time and over twenty-five part-time instructors; oversight of Learning Support Services and full-time personnel, and; development / implementation of communication and work-life initiatives for all faculty.• Strengthened/increased diversity of course curriculum including: the introduction and evaluation of discipline specific course competency assessment rubrics in transitional (HU090, MS090) and first/second quarter English (HU110) and Math (MS111) courses; strengthening of delivery of student-centered learning environments in Humanities, Math and Sciences, and Social and Behavioral Science courses; broadening of course offerings in support of healthy student enrollment and variety in curriculum selections, and; increased variety of upper division electives through Seminar and Independent Study course offerings. • Mapping of student learning outcomes through comprehensive program assessments in each of the major subject areas: Art History, Composition and Rhetoric, Mathematics and Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences.• Managing positive student relations through student advising and participation in student success initiatives.• Management of modest ($10K) budget in first and second year of directorship in line with financial targets of Academic Affairs in particular, school as whole.• Expansion of SWID Initiative through linking of course competencies to SWID goals, and the concrete, course-specific activities for every faculty member in the Program.
