John passed his Series 7 exam on 12/15/14 and became a Registered Assistant with United Planners. In this capacity he brings a youthful exuberance and a willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy clients. John worked closely with his father, John "JB" Birney to learn the ins and outs of an industry that is constantly changing. Despite all of the disruption in the financial services industry over the years, John realizes that one thing has remained of the utmost importance: a human relationship with the client built on mutual trust and respect.

During the summers, John worked as a Counselor for Flagler County Public Schools Summer Camp. In the first months, John's job included many miscellaneous tasks culminating in the creation of a project plan. Eventually, he met with a technology team in Raleigh, and assisted with the construction of the product. John soon moved into the Support offices and took the lead on constructing and administering User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the site as it was being built by the technology team. He also assisted in setting up the support site using Zendesk, as well as managing and training other office employees.
