John is an experienced social entrepreneur. At NextBus, we developed technology that enhanced the Public Transit rider experience while offering a substantial return on investment to our shareholders - a classic example of "doing well by doing good."Currently John Eaton is the Chief Commissioner for the Pugwash Park Commissioners, the non-profit steward for the Canadian National Historic Site "Thinkers Lodge." Working closely with partners in the Canadian, Provincial and Municipal government, this Nova Scotia landmark has been transformed under John's leadership. Now completely restored, Thinkers Lodge is again offering innovative educational programs with an emphasis on Peace and Security issues. John is also the Treasurer of two community focused non profit organizations: Sustainable Lafayette and the Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center.John recently retired as General Manager and CFO of NextBus, Inc., the North American leader in real-time passenger information systems for the Public Transportation industry. NextBus was an early adopter of cloud based applications that increased ridership and reduced costs for bus systems across the country. Major customers include San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Boston and Toronto as well as numerous major Universities. Prior to NextBus, John served in executive positions at a number of Internet companies and consumer software companies.John received his BA from Dartmouth College and his MBA from Saint Mary's College.
