Led teams in Toronto and Chicago totalling 26 FTE and consultants with an employee engagement index of 99%.Functions comprised property administration, transaction analysis, data & analytics and accounting. Led the development of the CRE data warehouse (integrating data feeds from CRE and non-CRE systems into a single data warehouse), the property administration team (with responsibility for the transition to the IFRS-16 lease accounting standard) and the transaction analysis team (responsible for the financial analysis and presentation of all Canadian and international office transactions).

Responsible for the controllership and financial governance functions for the Bank’s corporate real estate and strategic sourcing activities, involving the planning and forecasting of gross budgets totalling $320 MM.

Negotiated numerous outsourcing agreements in various areas of the Bank’s operations, including the Bank’s first offshore business process outsourcing project and the outsourcing of the Bank’s currency operations to another bank. Represented the Bank in CBA discussions to develop industry comments on revisions to OSFI Guideline B-10.

Advised senior management on various issues related to the Bank’s capital structure, including the capital impact of acquisitions, changes in the dividend payout ratio and unconsolidated capital adequacy. Advised on the regulatory capital implications of proposed transactions and worked with BMO Capital Markets personnel to restructure transactions to be more capital-friendly. Extensive work on the potential impact of FIN46/AcG15, including leading a successful effort to lobby OSFI for regulatory capital relief, resulting in a P&L savings to the Bank of at least $2.5 million.

Commercial litigation practice focusing on competition law, insolvency and auditor liability. Appeared as counsel in the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Competition Tribunal and the Federal Court of Canada (Trial Division).
