About Johno Barker
The success of a product/feature hinges on understanding the value it brings users and WHY. This requires a good understanding of what, when, who and why research is needed - and without it you will struggle to understand how well your new feature will perform in the market or why perhaps it hasn’t performed as well as you had hoped. With over 7 years of experience extracting customer/user insights, I am well versed in delivering effective research. How can I help your business?I can help deliver actionable insights that will inform business decisions by:- Taking research from concept through to delivery, specifying methods, sample requirements, creating tables and pulling insights from large data sets- Translating complex research findings into strategic initiatives and actionable insights for the whole business (from board/CEO level, to individual teams)- Applying mixed methods (Qualitative / Quantitative / Market research / UX research) to enhance a user’s experience with an existing product/feature, or to to ensure the successful adoption of new features (from discovery to throughout lifecycle)- Coaching peers to facilitate basic research (better briefs, interview techniques, usability testing, analysis techniques)What impact have I had previously? As someone who achieved the highest performance level for 2023, I had a great year delivering effective research. Here are some key examples of the impact I had:- Managed and delivered a new user sentiment measure (internal), in which led to an increase in positive and reduction in negative sentiment around the ClearScore user experience. I was one of five nominees for an award for this project for the end of year awards- Assisted in reducing research operation costs by £90,000 over two years- Used secondary research to help populate the 2023 strategy (January and June) based on the business objectives- Validated the demand for an enhancement of an existing feature, as well as reviewing the best price point for profit. This meant the company avoided significant investment for non-significant increase in revenue, and allowed us to review what price would likely yield the most profit- Helped for the product marketing strategy by producing insights on why users prefer to use different providers
