Director For Northern Ireland, Food, Farming & Countryside Commission
As part of the UK wide Food, Farming and Countryside Commission's work, I am supporting a leadership group in Northern Ireland which is taking a close look at issues such as the relationship between the food we eat, the farming that supplies our food and the countryside that we all value. We are asking how food, farming and the countryside can best contribute to the wellbeing of our people and we are examining the sustainability of the system, how it contributes to our identity and our sense of place. To help us sharpen our focus we are actively engaging with groups of citizens from both urban and rural backgrounds to discover what really matters to people here.We will use what we have heard to inform our own deliberations as a group, putting forward proposals towards a vision that can be shared by all. Our task will then be to make the connections across government, local government, business and civil society to bring about change.
