Responsible for providing strategic planning, operation, and administrative direction of the enterprise virtual server systems, storage, operating systems, and datacenters of ITS Platform Administration. Responsible for Data Center and Storage Management, Virtualization, and System Administration teams that dispatch critical functions of enterprise storage, backup and recovery, server virtualization, and datacenter functions central to ITS core technology components and the function of critical University systems.

Provides oversight and management of the enterprise virtual server systems including cloud-based systems and servers. Ensures successful operation and dispatch of enterprise virtual system services. Ensures the availability, stability, and security of enterprise virtual servers including the physical servers and virtualization layer. Provides oversight for these services in cloud environments, particularly in research support. Oversees associated budgets, procurement, auxiliary accounting, and vendor management. Provides oversight and management of the enterprise storage, team. Ensures successful operation and dispatch of enterprise storage. Manages teams, and coaches, and oversees resource utilization. Supports research archival storage in addition to enterprise storage. Oversees associated budgets, procurement, auxiliary accounting, and vendor management. Provides oversight and management of the database and enterprise backup services. Ensures successful operation and dispatch of database services and enterprise backup and recovery services, including cloud services. Provides database support to all centralized ITS systems and applications. Oversees associated budgets, procurement, auxiliary accounting, and vendor management.

The Assistant Director of Information Technology is responsible for the deployment of the virtual machine, storage and data recovery systems. The Assistant Director is responsible for the direct management of over the team that is made up of five members that support the enterprise storage and virtual machine environment for Florida State University. This team also manages and deploys new technologies hosted by the virtual machine environment.• Procured over $2 million of new storage infrastructure to replace the aging infrastructure, and saved the University over $5 million.• Redesigned the virtual machine environment to more efficiently use hardware and double the environment’s capacity, and at the same time reduce the amount of hardware and licensing cost.• Manage the virtual machine and storage environments which generate over $1 million in revenue annually.

As the Information Technology Director this position was responsible for reporting directly to the Executive Director. Designing and implementing a strategy to integrate and standardize the information technology infrastructure for 20 offices throughout the state. This position also was responsible for the analysis recommendation and the development of the budget for the agency information technology needs. Also worked directly with the Executive Director to develop and implement all of the agency’s information technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure all technology is consistent with the agency’s objectives, standards, and security policies. • 50 percent reduction in network connectivity costs • Developed, implemented and deployed the .net case management tracking system• Develop the agency’s first consolidated network• Implemented and supported the management of Enterprise database systems
