John C. Parker has over twenty years as a scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, and middle/executive manager, contributing to the commercialization of emerging technologies, predominantly focused in nanotechnology. He received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Purdue (2006), the Entrepreneur of the Year Award (1998) from the Research Directors Association, the R&D 100 Award (1995), and an Advanced Technology Award from NIST (1992). As a researcher at Argonne National Laboratory he became a co-founding member of Nanophase Technologies Corp., as Chief Scientist, and finished as CTO/VP Technology and Manufacturing. His technology creation and development was integral to the company's growth and IPO in 1997 (NANX). In 1999, John moved to Director of Engineering at Cirqon Technologies Corporation where he managed development of advanced electronic packaging solutions for the semiconductor and telecom industries. In 2002 Cabot Microelectronics recruited John to advance their nanotechnology platforms for advanced surface, CMP technology for the semiconductor industry. In 2012 he changed his focus from development within industry to a career in educational development and consulting for industry. At Lewis University he is training the next generation of scientists and engineers in practical, commercial research and applications through teaching and contract research programs. John is also a technical/business advisor to early stage venture capital funds, and is on technical advisory boards of early stage companies.John holds 17 patents, over fifty publications, and has organized and edited six Materials Research Society symposia on nanotechnology. John obtained his B.S. in Physics at Northeastern Illinois University and received his M.S and Ph.D, both in Physics, from Purdue under Ralph Bray.Specialties: entrepreneurial development, research, technology creation and commercialization
