About John Goff
I am a seasoned digital media professional and journalist who has spent the last 18 years building one of the most heavily trafficked local TV websites in the country. In that time I have delivered high-quality stories and important new products to our visitors and customers. My mission is to deliver the best user experience possible. I focus on the quality of the stories we publish right down to copy, headlines, images and video. Right now, I mentor a team of web producers on the evening shift essentially serving as a managing editor. I make sure team members have the tools and advice they need to improve their skills. In addition, I focus on site design/development, SEO, project management and strategic planning to give our visitors rich and relevant news content, tools to help plan their lives and ways to connect with us and each other people via social media. When I started, KING5.com and NWCN.com were little more than a few headlines on an HTML page. Now NWCN may be gone, but KING 5 is a full-featured site with thousands of article pages and dozens of landing pages. The site now totals 3.1 million visitors, 2.5 million video plays and more than 31 million page views a month.In my time at King, I spearheaded the transition to four new designs and led our efforts in three CMS integrations, participating in the redesign efforts for all sites in the Belo Corporation and later the Gannett/Tegna family.I've planned and developed websites and mobile apps. In the last few years, I've launched Seattle Weather, Seattle Traffic, Seattle Sports, and Northwest Ski Reports as well as core news apps for KING5 and NWCN using the NewsCycle platform. Our mobile traffic is now more than 2/3ds of the traffic on our digital platforms. I was recently tapped to lead company-wide team of professionals in setting standards for publishing for our corporate shared content team and spearhead coverage of the 2016 election.
