Working primarily with binding authority insurance business to find ways to automate, streamline, and bring efficiency to multiple work efforts. Binding authority underwriters, brokers, and assistants are most valuable selling insurance, not spending their time on inefficient rate/quote/bind/issue systems. It is my job to find ways to make these systems smarter, more automated, and more effective at solving business problems so that users don't have to.

Credex's owner and I had a mutually beneficial agreement for me to help him with software changes needed while I kept my family's financial needs met and also searched for a more permanent position. While I was at Credex I modeled and implemented a new security layer which they still use today. I also visited client sites and worked on specific problems they were having with Credex's loan origination and servicing software.

BellSouth outsourced the Billing department to Andersen Consulting, which was renamed Accenture. My work centered on updating some utility programs written in Visual Basic to assist the primarily COBOL-based billing system with tax rate changes. I was also part of the technical support team for all PC desktop software and worked on a project to deploy Microfocus COBOL and new PC hardware to 500+ users.

My co-op engagements had been very positive, so BellSouth hired me full time upon graduation from college. I worked in the Billing department filling numerous roles in PC and Windows-based application support. I created several pieces of documentation that were used for 10+ years, taught several classes, and served as primary phone and email-based tech support.

I was approached at the end of my freshman year at Samford to participate in the Co-op program at BellSouth. I had numerous different assignments with Network Strategic Planning, UNIX Operations Support, PC Tech Support, and Billing Support. Tasks varied from PC Software Support to assisting Project Managers with Gantt, Pert, and Budget charting.
