Executive Assistant (Formerly Elder Rights Project Program Manager, Paralegal)
CurrentI am currently moving on from the Elder Rights Project (ERP) and into the Executive Assistant role on the administrative team. I continue to be part of ERP while this transition is happening. Elder Rights Project helps elderly victims of crime with their civil legal needs. This rewarding work allows me to advocate for individuals in vulnerable moments and support them while they navigate the legal system and recover from trauma. I support six attorneys performing various paralegal and advocacy duties. As Program Manager, I also perform supervision, administrative support, and outreach duties. I have developed relationships with advocates all over the state to build a network of support for our clients. If your organization is interested in hearing more about our project, or if you would like to set up topic specific workshops for your members, please contact me at jjd@legalaction.org.Key paralegal competencies/responsibilities:• Manage Outreach and Victim Advocacy services• Supervise Victim Advocates• Grant Reporting• Timekeeping and Expense Management• Running Team Meetings• Interviews potential clients• Conduct research and background checks using subscription software.• Continuing education in assigned areas of law (general practice)• Support attorneys in their case work, as assigned.• Develop and maintain contact with other agencies, professionals to promotes client interests• Maintain orderly client files.• Collect and enter data needed to meet grant reporting requirements.• Develop and provide educational presentations to seniors and stakeholders• Legal filings & service process• Identifying project challenges and developing solutions • Identifying inefficiencies and developing processes for improvement • Training / Shadowing of new employees• MS Word, Excel & Adobe (fillable forms, creating templates & sample letters)
