A colleague once told me "All salespeople are smooth on top but essentially bland, vapid and empty underneath. There isn't a lot to them." I pride myself on being exactly the opposite.On a simple level - I love meeting new people. Ever since I was a boy I yearned to learn about people's lives, they way they think, their choices and actions, their hopes and dreams, their fears. This led me to my creative pursuits as a professional actor and writer, which is a craft I practice every day. I spent a decade studying and emulating human nature, and I imagine I will do this for the rest of my life. I am also passionate about helping people make smart decisions with their money, and about providing true value. The big picture is that it's great for our society if people get value for what they paid for, building trust and confidence.Creatives often feel like they are useless to society outside of creation; I certainly did. However, more recently, I had an epiphany. My natural inclinations and hard won skills are extraordinarily valuable, not to mention rare, in the world of sales. Ask yourself; who do you prefer to partner with, when you do business?I imagine the first answer is; someone who can do the job well. The second answer is; someone with experience. But the third layer is one that most salespeople never truly understand; someone who you actually like.I am not just a good talker; I possess the ability to connect with clients on an emotional level (virtually or in person), understand their pain, and truly listen. These are all key disciplines of acting, and translate seamlessly to the discipline of sales.How much better would your business be doing, if you had someone like me working there?
