Tasks include developing audit plans and procedures in order to ensure that the University has adequate controls in place to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its data assets (financial records, student information, etc.); conducting interviews and testing procedures to follow-up on audit programs; and researching and becoming familiar with federal and state laws which the University must follow in order to protect students’ information (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA], and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act [FERPA]), as well as the standards and frameworks used to ensure compliance with those laws and statutes (COBIT, NIST, ISO 27000 series, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards [PCI DSS] etc.).
