I coordinated a free income tax assistance program called Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) at Community Action Southwest in Washington Pennsylvania. This position was through AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service To America (VISTA) and fulfilled a year of national service. Throughout this year of service I was trained and certified by the IRS for free tax prepartion, and was tasked with recruiting and supervising community volunteers in two counties. I managed 8 different free tax sites during tax season and oversaw the filing of hundreds of tax returns.
