Working with an industry leading engineering company to provide SME (Subject Matter Experts) for Deepwater well engineering, operational readiness, asset design, risk assessment and failure investigations.

Worked on the two (2) CGX exploration wells in the Guyana Basin (Deepwater Guyana), both of which were drilled with the Maersk/Noble Discoverer. This position is responsible for the operations leadership role to promote the safe execution of the drilling program, as efficiently as possible. These roles include local oversight in Georgetown, Guyana during drilling and liaise with Guyana Government. Worked with the team to Drill two (2) Deepwater Exploration wells in the Corentyne Block, the Wei-1 well, and the Kawa-1 well.

Worked on the planning, engineering and execution of six (6) exploration wells in the Guyana Basin (Deepwater Suriname). This position is responsible for the planning and safe execution of the exploration drilling program, as efficiently as possible. Initially worked with a small technical team to review offset well data and draft a basis of design to further develop a pore pressure/frac gradient window and well design. The Popokai-1 (2015) was the first Deepwater penetration in the Guyana Basin, just prior to Liza-1 in Guyana. The integrated team developed a regional rock strength model, a contingency casing design, and a time depth model. The team also drafted/tendered/evaluated tender documents, quality and inspection criteria, time & cost estimates and traveled to Trinidad and Suriname prior to and rotated during drilling Operations for direct supervision in country, assist in the evaluation of 3rd party providers, oversee the dock & logistics manager, HSE Leadership roles, local oversight in the Suriname Operations and liaise with Staatsolie (National Oil Company). Worked with the team to Drill two (2) Deepwater Exploration wells in Block 53, in 2015 (Popokai-1) and 2017 (Kolibrie-1), then in 2019-2021 Apache drilled the four (4) Discovery wells in Block 58; Sapakara-1, Maka-1, Kwaskwasi-1, and Keskesi-1.

Worked as the Cascade Drilling Manager for the JV (Joint Venture) and was one of seven project managers reporting to a Petrobras GM/lead role in Houston. During this time, the Cascade/Chinook team drilled Exploration and Development wells. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient Drilling and Completion operations from planning and through the operations. Helped manage the Drilling & Completion part of the JV operation while embedded in an integrated team (Petrobras Operator; Total and Devon partners) to plan and engineer wells to produce Lower Wilcox pay in 7,000’ to 9,000’ WD, and close to 30,000’ TD. Worked with two service providers to develop a multi-zone single trip frac pack assembly suitable for the Lower Wilcox. During this drilling campaign, the team brought and commissioned several new build Drillships for GoM operation during this time. Developed a lesson learned database for Inspection and Acceptance criteria for both subsea and new build rig systems. Successfully worked with industry operators to design and pass the permitting challenges post Macondo with BSEE and participated in industry response for the capping stack solution and participated in several API joint teams.

Worked as the Brazil Drilling Manager for the Polvo Exploration in the Campos Basin and for Blocks 30/32 in the Espirito Santos Basin, all floater operations. Planned for the drilling of an exploration well in the Sao Luis offshore area. Worked with the IBAMA and Authorities to permit and drill wells in 3 basins offshore of Brazil. Drilled several discovery wells, Sidetrack appraisals, BP coring operations and safely completed a well test. This position is responsible for managing the safe and efficient Drilling operations and responsible for all drilling operations in country.

Worked as the Senior Drilling Engineer for an Exxon/Devon (Ocean Energy) Joint Venture as a secondee to Exxon’s operation. Drilled and planned wells in the offshore Angola basin for Deepwater Exploration wells.

Senior Drilling Engineer for Deepwater Campaigns on Spa and Voss (WD>5,000’ and TD>30,000’) prospects and Magnolia Development using the Deepwater Pathfinder. Worked as one of the planning and operations Engineer for the exploration wells in the Deepwater GOM. Assisted with the planning of the Magnolia well test and participated on-site for the initial batch set of 7 wells ahead of the TLP installation.

Senior Drilling Engineer for HPHT Exploration wells in Cretaceous formation in Lake Maracaibo, the Gulf of Venezuela and the Caribbean. Planned and executed >30 HPHT wells during this time including some underbalance drilling (early MPD techniques) and multi-lateral applications. Worked as a planning and operations engineer to plan, AFE, drill and safely execute each exploration well. Developed a system to identify failures from suppliers by increasing QAQC surveillance and systematic process for inspections.

Senior Drilling Engineer for HPHT Sub-Salt Exploration wells in the GOM. Planned and drilled wells in the sub salt plays of the GOM. Worked both as a planning engineer in the office and a well site supervisor offshore. Typically drilled and completed wells and performed a well test/cleanup. Participated in AFE planning in evaluations of wells in Peru, China and Venezuela.
