Aligned experiences included working as an Assistant Director in the Ohio Department of Education's Office of Career-Technical Education supporting communities across Ohio in the application for and management of federal career-tech grant funds and before that more than 20 years leading an entrepreneurial nonprofit community redevelopment initiative pursuant to the $100 million U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Round 2 Urban Empowerment Zone grant that I secured for Columbus, Ohio.As the former long-time leader of a successful, comprehensive community and economic development initiative, I am a proven organizational leader in multiple areas of public interest. I have demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and management, systems change and advocacy, group process facilitation, personnel management, budgeting and budget management, project management, and program evaluation. I have expertise in economic development, real estate development and finance, business finance and credit evaluation, strategic planning, and organizational development and management. In this role, I advocated to Congress during budget negotiations and analyzed the impact of the package of federal Empowerment Zone tax incentives, including providing testimony to the Select Revenues Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee.Past work experiences include private sector experience in federally-regulated oil, natural gas, and electric industries; serving as principal in consulting firm providing services to state and local governments and nonprofit organizations; and in depth involvement in State of Ohio Medicaid reform.
