Designing, Manufacturing, Testing and Installation of Norcada's suite of In-Situ Microscopy Products and Transmission Windows.

Involved in various research and development tasks including:- Development of a demonstration model of piezoelectric energy harvesting system, including conditioning circuitry, packaging, and housing. - Aiding in the project management, planning, and budgeting of research projects, including NSERC Idea to Innovation (I2I), NSERC Engage, and NSERC Business Innovation Access Program grants.- Development of a microfluidic dilution chip microfabrication process, including hot embossing and bonding of COC and PMMA-based polymers. Designed and executed required microfluidic experiments to evaluate bond integrity and device performance characterization.- Facilitating the installation, setup, and training of HQP for a Laser Doppler Vibrometry system. - Piezoelectric MEMS device design and fabrication, including both harvesting and sensing applications. - Aiding in microfabrication and device characterization of resonant RF MEMS temperature sensors. - Characterization of microfabrication and device performance of non-conforming wafers of a development run of piezoresistive MEMS strain sensors.- Design and fabrication of a self-contained sol-gel PZT deposition system housed within a portable cleanbox.- Writing/preparation of research and commercialization grant proposals, including NSERC I2I Part 1b, NSERC Engage and NSERC BIAP grants.- Co-supervising and mentoring undergraduate students in the research group.

Involved in various thesis related research tasks including:- Development of Microfabrication Technologies (for use at the University of Alberta) Including Aqua Regia Etching and PZT Sol-gel Deposition and Lift-off, and a PZT Wet Etch Technique- Design, Analysis, and Microfabrication of Stiffness Optimized Piezoelectric Microgenerators- Development of MEMS-based Packaging Techniques using Flexible and Printed Circuit Board utilizing both Wire Bonding and Flip Chip Techniques.- Development and Fabrication of Experimental Vibration Testing Apparatus- Electrical and Frequency Response Characterization and Testing of Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters- Writing/Preparation of Grant and Funding Proposals, including nanoBridge, I2I, and NSERC Grants. - Author of successful nanoBridge Commercialization Grant and Idea to Innovation (I2I) grants.- Fabrication of microfluidic dilution chips using hot embossing techniques for a NSERC Engage Grant.

Has taught and administered the laboratory portions of a variety of Mechanical Engineering Courses, at the University of Alberta including:- MecE 265 – Engineering Graphics and CAD (Four Semesters)- MecE 260 – Mechanical Design I (Three Semesters)- MecE 301 – Mechanical Engineering Laboratory I (One Semester)
