My primary purpose was to help the faculty and staff do their jobs when it comes to technology. In my experience, clients are intimidated by their technology and are afraid to ask questions or for help. I excel at explaining the answers to their questions without making them feel silly or ignorant. I have received many compliments for being able to meet the client at their understanding level, for my patience while working through the process with them, and for my quick responsiveness. It was my job to help keep them working.I frequently worked with the Ashland University IT department (as ATS is a graduate division of AU) in order to make sure clients were getting the support and answers they needed regarding the IT services that the University provides. I tried to make sure my clients did not get “lost in the shuffle” while they sought answers and support.Technical responsibilities: Troubleshoot issues related to classroom A/V equipment. Troubleshoot Windows and Mac workstations. Troubleshoot printer and printing issues. Create IT budgets for Seminary technology needs and upgrades. Track IT inventory and warranty status of said inventory. Work within an Active Directory environment to organize Seminary computers into proper OUs. Run live streams and/or live sound for special events at the Seminary. Create portraits and short videos in-house for marketing and promotional purposes.

Although my primary job function was to maintain and program web resources, client support was just as important. When colleagues would run into technical issues, I was the first one they’d call for assistance. I also interfaced with clients on projects for our agency to help bridge the gap between the client and account team so everyone was on the same page regarding what the requirements were and so the client and account team understood what technology was needed for the project.Technical responsibilities: Maintained and programmed web sites using technologies such as PHP, mySQL, Adobe Flash, HTML and CSS. Maintained and configured Macintosh and Windows-based workstations. Maintained and configured Macintosh and UNIX-based web servers. Assisted in the lighting of sets and shooting/editing video.

As a customer service representative at a storefront for a local internet company, I interacted with customers on a daily basis, both face-to-face and on the phone. I was commended by the store manager on my communication skills with the customers.Responsibilities: Assisted customers with signing up for dialup internet accounts in person and over the phone. Also assisted customers with billing questions, payment posting, and satellite TV technical support.

I assisted Data Network Engineers with tasks associated with their job functions and observed day-to-day tasks performed by Engineers in a 6-week long internship. The engineers were impressed with how quickly I could learn and accomplish tasks assigned to me.

I assisted dial-up internet customers with obtaining accounts, billing/account questions, and technical support regarding connecting to and using internet services both in person and on the phone. This was my first professional experience with customer service as a high school student.
