I leverage my formal education; lived experience as someone who regularly walks, bikes, and rides METRO; and my many and varied career experiences – as a non-profit advocate, transit researcher, MPO intern, commercial driver supervisor, foreign parliamentary aid, motorcoach operator/guide, electrician, missionary, and draftsman – to ensure my work positively impacts policies and plans today. I strive to actively participate in community, regional, and state planning processes with an equity and transit-focused lens. I am a skilled communicator and proficient with many software tools. I serve as the Committee Communications Coordinator for TRB’s AP055 Standing Committee on Rural, Intercity Bus, and Specialized Transportation, and previously co-chaired the body for 4 years. I also served as an alternate or primary voting member for citizens' interests on the 8-county metropolitan planning organization’s transportation advisory committee from 2019 to 2022. I understand the ecosystem of community, non-profit, quasi-government, and government entities involved in transportation – especially in Houston.I am at my best when helping others learn what data is available, brainstorming the who/what/when/where/how to fill informational gaps, and then collaborating to generate data-informed, but human directed, solutions and plans. I enjoy mentoring colleagues and am experienced with management in matrix organizations.
