ACE is a systematic approach to building better relationships and bipartisanship in Congress but away from the crucible of Washington, D.C. Recognized on Capitol Hill & beyond as a one-of-a-kind program to forge trust to advance durable solultions in Congress. ACE is built upon three precepts:* To develop trust, Members of Congress must listen to one another to understand what it is that motivates them and concerns them.* Once they listen to each other, they learn they actually have more in common than meets the eye – and if they can see each other in that vein, impactful legislation can be achieved.* A shared experience based on close personal interaction can be what brings Members of Congress together to take action on behalf of the American people.Members of Congress agree to visit a Member of the opposite party in that Member’s district. That member, in turn, reciprocates the following year or when schedules permit. The district of choice is ideally removed geographically, culturally, and politically from the travelling Member’s own district. Leveraging extensive relationships with Members of Congress, ACE identifies Members and secures participation. ACE develops customized itineraries and agendas, coordinates all logistics and compliance for travel. Each visit is tailored to meet the participants’ individual needs and build a relationship between two Members. Led a 600 member-company business organization in the following areas: * Management and Administration: Turned around a failing organization and revived its membership. Developed innovative membership benefits and services and oversaw recruitment efforts, resulting in a doubling of the membership in 4 years. Initiated aggressive plan to enhance support services for local businesses, created numerous opportunities for networking and education, hosted major regional and national speakers, and involved 200+ volunteers. * Legislative/Regulatory Affairs Advocacy: Successfully managed numerous business/public issues for businesses and institutions. Built relationships to reach consensus among divergent constituent interests.* Economic Development: Consulted to real estate industry, financial investors, government officials, and institutional partners. Created political support, public relations, and developed economic arguments which resulted in approval of several major development projects. Evanston captured over $1 billion of new private and public investment between 2000-2008. Evanston is now a model community for “transit-oriented” development, urban cultural amenities, and entrepreneurial environment. * Workforce Talent Attraction/Retention: Developed Young Professionals of Evanston (YPE). YPE serves as a tool for attraction and retention of talent in Evanston by connecting young professionals to opportunities to expand their personal networks and careers. * Marketing and Communications: Organized a Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) for Evanston to promote tourism and market the community by bringing together the resources of the hospitality industry, arts community, Northwestern Univ., and IL Bureau of Tourism. Managed Evanston Chamber’s rebranding and oversaw digital media strategy which included a new transactional website, videography, redesigned e-mail communications with sponsorship, and social media platforms.

Lobbyist for the region's business community before the Connecticut state legislature in Hartford and at the local level in New Haven. Built partnerships between business and government to address crucial regional public policy issues such as transportation, solid waste management, tax reform, affordable housing, land use and urban planning. * Successfully led the New Haven business community’s fight to establish a state income tax and cuts in state spending in Connecticut as a replacement for the onerous business tax rates which were weakening economic competitiveness. Passage of this legislation resulted in Connecticut achieving a tax climate that is today more equitable and less burdensome on business. * Before 1990, New Haven’s airport (HVN) was a small turbo-prop operation with little use by the business community. Coordinated the redevelopment of HVN, created a national airline recruiting effort, and led negotiations for the City of New Haven with United Airlines to start daily nonstop jet service to Chicago and Washington, D.C. From 1988 to 1991, HVN increased annual boardings from 50,000 to 100,000.

Managed and developed energy and environmental policy for issues such as natural gas, nuclear energy, renewable resources, conservation, and toxic waste. Organized Subcommittee hearings on program management of Departments of Transportation, Energy, and Environmental Protection. Wrote speeches and reports. Led investigation into illegal direct-mail practices.
