Update:My primary role was the daily monitoring of point-of-sale (POS) transactions related to cash accounts on the balance sheet. This involved using a software program "Trintech" to match bank statement data to POS data leaving only the variances to investigate. Adjusting entries involved making debits and credits to the balance sheet and the income statement. In addition to CAD accounts I was also responsible for USD accounts and corporate bank accounts; again balancing ledger activity to the bank statements. On daily basis online banking sites were used to properly reconcile. Often the role required communicating to external banking personel requesting more information, scanning paper work, and requesting specific adjustments to bank accounts. Monthly duties included completing monthly financial statements alongside senior management; senior management creating the statements while individual accountants (myself) balanced sub-ledger accounts. This involved two sets of deadlines, the first to pre-reconcile accounts to identify adusting entries and post them, the second deadline was the final reconciliation of accounts, providing backup for any unresolved variances. The accounting software used was Oracle, and was part of a larger ERP system linked to bank data and POS data. Oracle was newly implemented during my time at National Money Mart, prior to that the accounting software was Great Plains. Other ad hoc projects included lean six sigma training, external auditor requests, software testing, process analysis, creating training manuals, and special investigations originated by the loss prevention department; or the fruad department. (permanent role August 2016)Prior to August, 2016 (working as a contractor), I was responsible for daily POS monitoring and balance sheet reconciliations; related to prepaid credit cards, prepaid phone cards, gift cards, foreign exchange transactions, and cash-for-debit transactions.

Customer Service Representative
Worked for the company for 23 months. Great organization that provided me with excellent experience in banking and business operations. The highlights of working for RBC was that they have a high level of operational efficiency, extensive policy and procedure development, advanced product quality and performance controls, and strong financial performance. If you ever have the chance to work for a national bank I recommend it; even if for only a short period of time. Given the divisions and opportunities within RBC I will look to join this organization again as I pursue my CFA designation. The branches I worked in were Yaletown (08280 - Vancouver) and Burnside Tillicum (08160 - Victoria).
Sales And Service Representative
Was awarded the Canadian Western Bank President's Award in 2008 as a student scholarship at Vancouver Island University. I worked for the Nanaimo branch, Monday to Friday during the summer-time-break and then once a week while in school; this took place from May 2008 to May 2012. Great company and great organizational culture. I would consider this company again for career opportunities.
