Research and Development position, specifically using embedded systems software development for biomedical electronic devices (Pulse Oximetry)

ND EPSCoR’s Graduate Student Cyberinfrastructure Assistantship program on the NDSU campus is designed to increase understanding of advanced research hardware and software computing for NDSU graduate students, provide cyberinfrastructure support to NDSU researchers and help develop educational modules, which will be used to train undergraduate and graduate students and faculty at NDSU, the four North Dakota University System primarily undergraduate institutions and the five tribal colleges located in North Dakota. (Taken from: https://www.ndsu.edu/news/view/detail/32058/)The main goal of my position at CCAST is teaching other faculty/researchers at NDSU how to utilize the supercomputer clusters in the research park in order to make their research more efficient. Other tasks include: making the system easier to use, installing cameras in the machine room, and adding new functionality to better suit the research needs of all researchers at NDSU.

Researching low power video processing technology. Areas of interest mainly include embedded systems, C/C++ programming, VLSI design, and machine learning techniques.

Teaching undergraduate and graduate level students learn how to program an ARM based development board (LPC1768) using C code. Using programming, the students will learn to access libraries, understand the structure of the modules used for accessing peripherals on the device, and drive I/O.

Helping undergraduate students learn how to incorporate electronics projects in combination with C code driving I/O on microcontrollers.

-Created Automation tools for running optics test on LEDs-Worked with interfacing a GUI system to control scanning spectra using multiple spectroradiometers-Wrote new firmware interrupts for allowing for correct signal timing between subsystems-Discovered and help debug bugs in firmware

-Design/program and test embedded signal processors-Develop high precision sensors for medical applications-Data and algorithm analysis of sensor output through the use of both low-level and high-level software languages-Assist statisticians with capturing data output for statistical analysis

Working with UI Automation tools (SAHI Pro in particular) and Javascript to automate testing of the company's product. Building libraries and proxy classes for future programmers at the company to use when making their test cases (specifically the QA team). Creating other useful tools (such as a excel based VBA code parser) in order to make processes faster and more efficient as well.

Created graphics and control schemes for industrial control systems on customer projects. Wrote backup scripts for VMWare servers to ensure easy access to previous versions. Reformed a large portion of the company's Access database using complex VBA code to simplify everyday project tasks for other engineers.

Worked on the Cloud Storage Team working with multiple server systems for customers. Ran other tests important to the advancement of drive capabilities. Wrote VBA Excel code to analyze certain disk errors for reports. Spent time with the rest of the cloud storage team discussing areas for improvement and how we would implement them in our everyday activities running tests in the lab.
