After I graduated high-school in 2006 I joined the army a year later in 2007. During the 7 years I was in the army I was stationed at Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii, where I did two combat tours (12 months in Iraq and 12months in Afghanistan) after I got out in 2014 I worked a small security job for a golf course until I was able to get a better job. I started a job, working for METCON out of Louisville. KY doing construction where we conducted carpentry work along with concrete work as well. During that job I was able to learn the skill to operate heavy equipment. We were contracted to a company that worked for KU in Ghent, KY. during that time I operated D6T Dozer, 470 Case Excavator, 320 Cat Excavator, Mini Excavator, Bobcat and Drove Yukes. I spent over a year with METCON. I worked for Lindsay Construction based out of Carrollton, KY. With that company we did similar work as my previous employer carpentry and concrete work. I was contracted to NAS to change air filters throughout the Mill. My work was recognized by group leader at the AOD in the Meltshop during this time and I was asked if I would put my application in for their job opening. I able to get hired on through NAS at the AOD on 12/12/16. I started as a tow motor operator and 3-4 months later, moved up to Floor Operator where I took temperatures and samples. 2 years later I was able to move up to Vacation Coverage where I covered down for vacation over 3 different job positions on 4 different crews. after 2 years as Vacation Coverage I was promoted to AOD 2 Operator. So far I have been in this position for 2 1/2 years and counting.
