Police technicians have two primary roles, which include dispatching units and acting as facility coordinator. As dispatchers, technicians may field incoming calls, assess the appropriate response and dispatch units to respond. Technicians support responding officers by communicating with other law enforcement agencies and emergency services in order to advise responding units of potential issues. Additionally, technicians assist investigations by gathering, logging and examining official records and data. Also manage vendors in SAFR, assist with access control and maintain the badging system for the Federal Reserve Bank.

Responsibilities include: employee and visitor control, security patrols of facilities; rapid alarm response; emergency response; violation and hazard detection; parking and traffic enforcement; classified materials destruction; and security escorts for un-cleared personnel. Individual will provide immediate response to all emergency situations such as fires, medical emergencies, confined space rescue, traffic incidents, and hazardous material incidents. Individual will operate, maintain, and conduct readiness reviews of all emergency response equipment, investigate or assist in investigations of security and/or emergency incidents, and may be required to assist outside agencies, such as local fire districts and law enforcement agencies to maintain safety and security. Job related skills – TS/SCI w/poly security clearance.

Job duties – provide physical security within Federal facilities; perform roving patrol and Traffic control; operate and monitor security and fire systems within the facilities; report hazardous conditions, if necessary; and respond to events of injury or illness. Also required to act as the primary security response until law enforcement assistance arrives when situations warrant. Job related skills – California Firearm and Guard Card, BSIS Baton Permit, CPR/AED and First Aids cards.
