I have worked in the electrical industry since leaving school in 1988 when I started my apprenticeship with Midlands Electricity Board (MEB). After qualifying and working as an electrician for a number of years I specialised in the security industry installing systems including CCTV, door entry systems, intruder and fire alarms.I then became a project engineer where I was responsible for the design and estimation of security and electrical installations. After carrying out this role for two years I had an opportunity for a complete change in career and moved into training.I have worked in training since 2003 when I became an Electrical Training Adviser where my main duty was supporting and assessing electrical apprentices. This role evolved into assessing people working towards City & Guilds NVQs and teaching 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
