Jon advises non-profit organizations with both technical and strategic issues. He has worked both advising boards, executives and senior development staff. His insights have helped large/mature organizations move to the next level or also helped emerging programs move toward sustainability. He is also advising donors as they develop a personal philanthropy strategy not only in helping them gain an understanding of their personal passions but finding charities that help make that happen.

Facilitate the philanthropic relationship between individual major donors and the three Southern Nevada Dignity Health/St. Rose hospitals. Actively steward existing donors as well as work to cultivate new donors. Responsible to maintain a group of 100 active donors.

Asked to build plan for integrating traditional retail social enterprise business model with mission based fund raising to support tremendous demand for job development needs in the community. Leadership chose to focus on core business rather than dedicate necessary resources to be effective in fund raising approaches.

-Responsible for raising $8.2MM annual fund for a start-up food bank. -Implemented broad based marketing and development activities including major gifts, direct mail, foundations and corporate donors. Also, responsible for communications and volunteer programs.-In less than 18 months integrated earned media, paid media combined with direct mail to acquire 20M new donors.

-Responsible for raising $9.5MM annual fund required to ship $70MM of emergency food in the mid-west. -Doubled individual giving through integration of direct mail, social media and major donor cultivation. House list moved from 18M to 45M current donors in less than two years. Tripled major donor giving from $250 to $750K. -Directed Corporate and Foundation solicitation programs. Doubled funding from 200 institutional donors. -Accountable for firm PR/Communications and volunteer programs with more than 5,000 participants.

-Program provided supportive housing and education to single moms willing to commit to obtaining a degree. -Developed and launched Planned Giving Program - Enrolled 16 members in initial campaign. -Point person to fund $9MM of $14MM capital campaign with Low Income House Tax Credits needed to build a 39 unit complex in Saint Paul. Completed in September of 2007. -Established GAAP financial reporting and budgeting systems for organization.

-Implemented rigorous system to manage major donor acquisitions and cultivations. More than doubled program by adding 250 new donors in first year of program with minimum gift of $1,000. -Revamped direct mail program. Grew current house list by fifty percent in first year and continued to grow at 30 percent subsequently. Growth was driven by increased mail frequency and use of lapsed donor list as primary acquisition model.

-Served in Financial Management of a publically traded, $15Billion food marketing/manufacturing company. The business was run through highly autonomous business units. -Held increasingly responsible positions during twenty-two year career.-Last twelve years there was Chief Financial Officer of the Food Service operating division. As division CFO was the key liaison with the corporate executive team for annual plan and capital investments. -Worked on eight different acquisition and integration teams. Integrated Ralcorp business within ten days of acquisition. -Was finance leader on team that built Foodservice and Convenience Store distribution channels from $75MM to $1,500MM from 1990 to 2002.-Headed GMI Finance Recruiting program at Carlson School of Management for ten years. Held highest minority retention rate in the company. Considered strong mentor to junior finance folks.

-Pioneered telemarketing sales approach in what had traditionally been a lead based door to door sales organization. Consistently was a top 10 sales producer in organization of nearly 500 people.
