    To be a part of Bank of America’s team meant making financial lives better through the power of every connection.     A family-owned restaurant with a small tightly ran ship. In that ship, I learned the essence of understanding the necessary role on the team to succeed daily. I would receive customer orders and relay it to the chef/owner. Once cooked, the other owner would package the dish along with condiments and utensils before presenting to the customer. This three-point system allowed for smooth operations and an efficient process. I discovered how communication plays a major role in the success of customer satisfaction. There were lessons from a mix-up of small shrimp or large shrimp fried rice (different dishes by technicality) to the sauce on the side rather over the dish (customer preference). I would communicate with the owners over daily results and be in contact when executing logistical changes such as which suppliers to buy from and which ingredients needed to be stocked.

    Motivation was the overarching key. To be specific: generating or fueling motivation was the key to thriving. Having no binding obligation or financial motive to stay or thrive for the club, motivating and being motivated was necessary to center officers’ focus towards the club’s success and prevent wavering spirits. Motivation could be: reminders of purpose, goals set out, traits we wished to develop or acquire. Anything was necessary for fuel through a 10 to 12-month term. For me, the biggest motivator was the success of my officers. To be a successful president, I believed officer planned events had to be successful and well received by members.Form motivation for success, I took it upon myself to embody being the president, the “face of the club”, most important person to ACS, leader of the board. Inside the walls of ACS, I would be the face that greets all members, worked to ensure logistics with campus officials were worked out, be the person members could go to when it came uncertainty or discomfort about the club. Outside, I would live up to being called “Mr. President”, “ACS President”, “Pres Jon” because I wanted a certain level of dedication given by outside clubs when dealing with joint events or activities. That was something I leveraged for more favorable outcomes.

    “Passion can overcome any negative effects of lacking experience or knowledge”. That was my mindset entering my first year as Culture Show Director with little to no stage experience, surface level understanding in the Chinese culture, and nothing on traditional dances. However, my passion for the best Chinese Culture Night drove me to pursue knowledge on the subject, become meticulous on what could happen on stage, and be engaged with coordinators and theater staff; I needed to set a high standard to see where this passion would take me.Project Management was a skill that indirectly developed from my process. I learned how 80% of the “work” a project manager does is preparation. Have preparations complete before the start of a project and all that’s left is motivating the team and monitoring actual progression vs. projected progression. That 20% is arguably the easiest for the simple fact as a person who pursues growth, watching the performers become stage ready was thrilling.
