• Leader of the cytokine receptor / ‘JAK/Stat’ research platform in-licensed from Darnell lab at Rockefeller Universityo Led to a collaboration with GSK (at that time SB) on hematopoietic growth factors. During the course of the collaboration discovered and characterized small molecule mimics of G-CSF and thrombopoietin (TPO). The TPO mimic, eltrombopag, is now on the market and being sold as Promactao Subsequent work that I led was performed independently at Ligand and led to identification of another TPO mimic that was licensed to GSK after entering the clinic• Androgen receptor (AR) program leader aimed at the discovery of selective androgen agonists to treat diseases resulting from low testosterone levels and antagonists for prostate cancer • Initial project leader for selective glucocorticoid receptor project designed to identify GR modulators for inflammatory disease. Partnered with Abbott.• Established a new oncology/prostate cancer effort targeting hedgehog to take advantage of ongoing pharmacology models in the prostate cancer area used to characterize AR antagonists.• Involved in in-licensing and out-licensing multiple research programs
