About Jón Snydal
I am a recent Civil Engineering Graduate of the University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus (UBCO). Currently, I'm working for Stantec as a Structural Engineering Intern at the Spring Bank Off-Stream Reservoir Project (SR1). The majority of my role is completing structural field engineering reviews at SR1. Along with that, I have been refining my structural steel and concrete analysis skills. During my studies at UBCO, I completed a 16-month co-op with TC Energy, developing my project management skills and expanding my understanding of the pipe integrity space on 50+ projects. In the near future, I am looking to pursue my passion for structural engineering and become a full-time Structural Engineer in Training, working towards becoming a Professional Engineer. I am very detail-minded, with strong communication skills and have had many experiences that allow me to work great in a team environment. When I’m not at work I like to balance my life out by spending time with my friends and family, as well as playing sports like hockey and golf.

Pipeline Reliability Projects Intern
During my time at TC Energy I supported four project managers on pipeline integrity projects to ensure that long term pipeline safety and reliability is maintained from British Columbia to Quebec. Some of the 50+ projects I supported as an intern included hydrotests, geotech, valve and actuator replacements, digs requiring sleeve, recoat or pipe cutout repairs and more. I was able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to confirm details, deliver updates, and complete specific tasks throughout the project lifecycle. With that I also developed a checklist that ensures no deliverables are missed on a project during development and implementation. In addition to creating a checklist I had the chance to connect with construction teams on site to develop a better understanding of the intricacies each project offered in the field.
