I was asked to manage the department with the following responsibilities:• Integrate the collections on behalf of all desks into a single team• Ensure accurate invoices were distributed to all counterparties within appropriate timescales for each product (11 products including those that used to be run from New York)• Completion of month end billing reconciliations• Ensure appropriate monthly management reporting was provided to all desks• Initiate a project to migrate all receivable actions (invoicing, collections, allocations, ledger maintenance etc.) to a single platformDuring the 18 months that I ran the department we reduced outstanding receivables by 50% and aged receivables by 80%

My next project was to create a new team by amalgamating the trade capture activities of various desks into a single unit. Key milestones included:• Identifying the staff responsible for trade capture and obtaining their release to the new team• Documenting the different trade capture procedures and integrating them into a combined Operating Procedures document• Identifying and defining a training program to enable individuals to work on multiple products and provide vacation and sick leave coverage• Obtaining Operational Efficiency by ensuring that the team was resourced with appropriately skilled resource (increased salaries were paid for by reductions in fines for late trade submission so it was cost neutral).
