My educational background has given me a solid understanding of Public Policy, Constitutional Law, and Legal Writing and Research. I have drafted several research papers that cover topics concerning hidden women’s history, religious philosophies as the foundation of government, and the systemic oppression of minorities within American law. I have also engineered research projects in which I collected both qualitative and quantitative data to discuss relationships between media content and political participation and relationships between intersectional identities and religious devotion. Furthermore, per my Legal Studies program, I have acquired legal research certifications and honed my legal report drafting skills. I am comfortable navigating all components of Microsoft office for tasks including report writing and editing and data collection and organization. I am eager to learn new computer skills and codes to enhance my data collection and analysis efficacy. My previous advocacy initiatives have given me the opportunity to hone my program management and critical thinking skills. As Community Education Chair and President for the Vanderbilt Prison Project, I acquired community advocacy talents. I organized monthly general body meetings, developed presentations that detailed involvement opportunities, and included interactive activities such as quiz games, partner discussions, and letter-writing campaigns to educate students on the realities of mass incarceration in the United States. I spearheaded the Awareness Week 2019 campaign, which I titled ‘Perspectives of Pain in Prison'. The events focused on the LGBTQ+ community, Women, People of Color, and Youth in prison. I worked with committee members to create advertisement posters and visual presentations for the campaign events, resulting in the addition of 100 members to the organization roster.
