Identify new, and engage with, existing in-state partners to build a cohesive campaign. Create a support plan to engage state partners around voting rights work, to include uplifting awareness on voter suppression. Provide organizing and grasstops engagement perspective, develop organizing strategies and action plans. Coordinates with state coalition(s), partner organizations, consultants, and internal teams around work related to agreed-upon tactics, activities, and rapid response needs. Provides insight and makes recommendations to headquarters staff on state needs and how to better support, engage state partners and fill gaps. Developed a train the trainer series on voting rights to use with national and state partners.

Directed statewide organizing program leading up to the March 3rd Super Tuesday presidential primary. Hired and managed 34 staff in 9 offices across the state to engage voters in open primary. Ran direct voter contact program including both paid and volunteer canvass, phone banks, and online engagement across the state, in every Congressional District. Built robust program in a very compressed timeline to turnout primary voters. Resulted in nearly 19% of the vote and 9 delegates; this was the best finish in the continental US for the campaign on Super Tuesday.

Worked with organizations to develop issue advocacy and electoral campaigns to build power. Strategic planning, branding and marketing, campaign planning and management, organizing and advocacy trainings, meeting facilitation and project management.

Provided political strategy and oversaw direct mail programs for Independent Expenditures as well as Statewide, Congressional and Legislative campaigns. Served on consulting teams for candidates and campaigns to assist with overall campaign strategy development and implementation. Managed internal teams to ensure direct mail products were progressing on time and on budget.

Directed an ambitious 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizing campaign that aimed to improve women’s economic lives with a focus on engaging women of color and low-income women in target states using culture change strategies or cultural organizing along with more traditional voter contact strategies. Ran IE campaigns in GA and MN in 2014; conducted strong candidate bird dogging effort along with a canvass in IA leading up to the Presidential Caucus; ran a large-scale IE (canvass, phones, mail, digital) focused on black women in NV in 2016. Hired and managed staff nationally and in state as well as managed all consultants (pollsters, mail, canvass); oversaw the organizing budget; represented the campaign at national progressive organizing tables; developed state campaign plans in collaboration with in-state partners.

Directed federal independent expenditure campaigns including CO, MT and WI independent expenditures in 2012. Responsible for national ballot initiative efforts across the country including Mississippi Personhood, Florida Privacy Rights Repeal, and Albuquerque 20 Week Abortion Ban. Supervised staff and consultants, managed budget, raised campaign funds, and directed voter contact efforts for both independent expenditures as well as ballot initiatives. Created standards and evaluation for a federation-wide “Organizing Model” and training program in close collaboration with affiliate leaders from around the country.

Developed, lead, and executed multi-year federal and state-level advocacy and independent expenditure campaigns related to women’s health. As part of the executive team, set strategic priorities and identified political opportunities to distinguish Planned Parenthood as the leading voice for women’s health. Supervised five field and political staff to implement advocacy and independent expenditure campaigns, conduct trainings, and facilitate strategic planning across the country. Directed the 2008 national paid mail and phone campaign to 2.5 million voters in 6 states on federal and state races.

Developed a national training strategy and curriculum for two-day nationwide direct action organizing program (Live Action Camps) in order to advance activist mobilization strategies in every state. Provided national strategic planning, on-site training, technical assistance and strategic grassroots organizing expertise to state and local staff. Worked collaboratively with national field staff to provide seamless strategic planning and training support for 120 affiliates. Supervised field staff. Worked on 2005 special election in California to defeat Parental Notification ballot initiative. Responsible for supervising Planned Parenthood Action Fund electoral work for 2006 mid-term elections in MI.

Developed and coordinated state and affiliate plans to promote grassroots advocacy through activist identification, education and mobilization. Supervised affiliate public policy staff in eleven states as it related to achieving the proactive initiatives of a nationwide campaign. Created strong working relationships with affiliates and state offices to ensure the implementation and advancement of public policy strategies at the local level as it relates to the development of public affairs work, particularly as it relates to grassroots organizing. Provided high level strategic planning, training, consulting, and on-site work to advance the goals of the Federation. Managed consultant activities at the state level, including mail, phone and message development.

Guided female victims of domestic violence through entire criminal justice system, from filing criminal charges through resolution of case. Worked closely with judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement to advocate for victim’s rights. Coordinated community based domestic violence trainings and public awareness campaigns. Duties included direct client services, domestic violence training, community outreach, coalition building, design of educational materials, and lobbying.

Served as on-site victim advocate. Worked with shelter personnel, hospital staff and law enforcement to provide safety and assistance to women and their children. Conducted domestic violence trainings for law enforcement and medical personnel.
