Firmware engineering summer intern at Nate Controls. Projects included:- Programming C firmware on Microchip processors to take UDP packets, process info, and set connected PWM controller to deseried PWM values. Added UART debug functionality to double check PWM controller values.- Software and hardware validation for products before shipping to market. Tools used to validate were: MPLAB InCircuit Debugger, UART debug terminal, multi-meter, oscilloscope, microscope, and cross referencing functionality with hardware schematics.- Hardware prototyping for clients, worked with Senior Hardware Engineer to create circuits, simulate designs using LtSpice, and validate prototype functionality.- Schematic and PCB layout validation using OrCad and Allegro. Confirmed schematics were up to date, revised as needed, and validated schematic correctness with product datasheets. PCB layout validation by checking footprint dimension correctness.- Costs and design analysis for introducing new hardware to existing products. Coordinated and met with hardware manufacturers to discuss pricing, lead time, minimum order quantity, and performance benchmarks. Gathered market data and presented to CEO to guide business decisions regarding said new hardware.
