Dissertation title: CD44 Interactions with Matrix Hyaluronan Attenuates Breast Cancer Progression.Utilized mouse models of breast cancer to establish a protective role for the cell surface protein CD44in mammary cancer progression when bound to its ligand, hyaluronic acid (HA) in 3D matrices. • Utilized a CD44 knockout mouse model of breast cancer to track tumor and metastasis formation demonstrating that CD44 is protective against metastasis but not primary tumorformation.• Using 2D and 3D migration studies, determined that CD44 binding of HA prevents tumor migrationonly when bound to a 3D matrix.
