Reformer, Benfield and Machines Operator.Currently training as a Ammonia 4 Control Room Operator (DeltaV).The following is a short break down of the responsibilities and systems I work with on the ammonia plant:•. Working as lead/control room operator of Ammonia plant, utilising available information for safe and efficient operation whilst maximising production. Responding to trends, alarms and plant upsets to maintain a safe environment. • Outside operation of 1.5kt/day ammonia production plant utilising the Haber-Bosch process.• Gas reforming, hydrodesulphurization, water-gas shift, methanation, Benfield system and gas synthesis.• Manual operation of high pressure natural and synthesis gas systems ranging from 1 Bar up to 210 Bar. Operation of working systems with temperatures ranging from -30°C up to 1200°C.• Close working with P&ID's and plant procedures on a shiftly basis.• Plant (de)commissioning operations carried out in line with maintenance activities and plant shutdowns/start-ups working with permit to work systems, plant procedure, defined checklists and utilising nitrogen purging equipment to make plant safe.• Immediate response to plant alarms and upsets to bring plant back to a safe and stable operating condition in minimal time with minimal effect to other plant equipment.• Close working with complex plant trip systems.• Work under stringent safety systems and plant procedures to comply with Top Tier COMAH Site regulations.• Operation and experience of a variety of heat exchange systems, rapid gas expansion, vacuum systems, steam (1 – 120Bar), condensate and chemical systems.• General operation, routines, monitoring and data collation of plant and equipment to optimise plant efficiency and production, prolong plant and equipment life, report defects to rectify faults and keep plant running safely.
