I am the Director of Strategic Initiatives and International Programs at the National Academy of Public Administration, an independent nonprofit organization chartered by the U.S. Congress to improve government performance. I lead our Grand Challenges in Public Administration campaign to address the most significant issues facing governments at all levels, co-lead the Agile Government Center, and develop partnerships with other good government groups, universities, nonprofit organizations, and companies. I facilitate impactful strategic planning and stakeholder engagement sessions, including for the U.S. Trade and Development Agency and Baltimore County. A few years ago, I was brought into the General Services Administration to help stand up its Office of Shared Solutions and Performance Improvement within the Office of Government-wide Policy.

Project DirectorNational Academy Of Public Administration Oct 2009 - Mar 2011• Responsible for leading teams, developing work plans, serving as the principal staff contact for clients, organizing/presenting briefings, and managing project budgets/deliverables. • Directed a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development to review and validate curricula used by the Government of Iraq to train its civil servants. This project concluded with validation certificates being presented to qualifying courses at a January 2011 conference in Baghdad. • Directed the Academy’s review of the National Park Service’s Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate (NRSS). This project concluded with a published Panel report entitled, Strengthening America’s Best Idea: An Independent Review of the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science Directorate (June 2010), that validated the critical importance of NRSS; presented a high-level strategic agenda to guide future NPS and NRSS natural resource activities; and included practical recommendations for addressing key internal organizational issues.• Directed the Academy’s review of Grant Thornton’s assessment of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resource Conservation Service agency. This project concluded with an internal report submitted to Grant Thornton summarizing the results of the review and presenting advice to senior NRCS officials on how to develop/implement a more effective performance measurement system. -
