About Joseph O'Malley

Joseph M. O’Malley, Jr. is the former Global Co-chair (retired) of the Intellectual Property practice at Paul Hastings. He is also the co-founder and former leader of the firm's Life Sciences IP Group. He has extensive patent litigation experience as lead trial counsel across a broad range of technologies, including biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. He was lead trial counsel in multiple patent litigations and arbitrations involving billion dollar a year drug products. Mr. O’Malley is a 2004 Burton Award winner for legal achievement. He is recognized as one of the world’s leading Life Sciences IP litigators by Chambers Global, Chambers USA, IAM Global Leaders, IAM Patent 1000, Legal 500 and Managing IP. He was the leader of the Paul Hastings Life Sciences IP Group that won the 2019 award for Firm of the Year, US Life Sciences IP Litigation by Managing Intellectual Property.
