The teams have been composed of people from a variety of departments. The projects were both challenging technically and organizationallyRecent/Current projects:2016-2018 - I performed business analysis for three project for the Online Department. Those projects included an Online Instructor Management System, a Course Information System, and an Online Instructor Commons project. I am currently managing the first phases of these projects.2016, Completed the implementation of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Recruiting, and Payroll software at BYU-Idaho and BYU-Hawaii from a home grown / Peoplesoft HR-Payroll system. This was a multi-million dollar effort. The core project team consists of eight from Idaho, four from Hawaii, and seven from Workday. The project was technically complex, organizationally challenging, and time constrained. The project was completed on time and under budget.- In 2015 Managed the team that implemented policies, procedures, networks, and devices to make BYU-Idaho PCI compliant. This is a mult-year effort. -

Those funds are used to provide infrastructure and to encourage economic development within the several districts. At EZ-NetTools, my title was Executive Vice President. I was the general manager under the direction of the President/CEO. At one time or another, I had responsibility for all business functions except for marketing, sales, or systems administration. That included software development, technical support, web development, online training, accounting, payroll, and general management. As a small, self-funded business we had to be very careful with our resources. I was fortunate to work with some very talented people who were able to develop some very elegant systems with limited staff and resources. These systems included an online catalogue and shopping cart, web development software, online training system, online directory, online photo album, online billing and receivables system, and search engine optimization tools.We were able to very effectively use student employees to develop many of the system. We tried to hire students who could work for two years. We found that many of them could become very productive under the strong leadership of our chief designer and programmer. This arrangement proved valuable for us and for the students.I was able to use my managerial accounting skills to help the sales manager determine what the breakeven volume was for the sales staff. Using the accounting data and a simple linear equation I developed, the sales manager was able to make good management decisions and design effective incentive programs that were cost effective for the company.I was also responsible to determining the priorities for software development. I accumulated suggested from our customers and our sales staff. I then worked these requests into our multiyear master plan. This allowed us to continue to upgrade the underlying systems while adding features that were in vogue at the time. -
Mission PresidentChurch Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day-Saints 1996 - 1999As a mission president, I had the responsibility for the work of 120 to 150 volunteer missionaries. I was responsible for training, motivation, and counseling them. I was fortunate to have an unusually good group of young men and women who worked hard and learned to love the Portuguese people. On the business side of the mission administration I designed and oversaw the development of a mission information system. This system automated nearly all of the back office functions of the mission, greatly reducing the time and effort to perform tasks and also to insure that all necessary tasks were performed. I was fortunate to have several very talented young men who were able to develop this system during their short time in the mission office.

Software EngineerIdaho National Laboratory 1991 - 1996While working at the INL I functioned as a project manager, business analyst, and software designer. Working with the DBA’s, I helped design the databases for new systems. I worked with the development staff to design and test the programs. I worked with the stakeholders to define requirements, developing procedures and training materials.I was one of two project managers on a larger project that involved over 100 technical staff to implement a site wide email system, a standardized office suite for PC’s and the upgrade of all of the DOE personal personal computers. On another project for the personnel security office I performed the interviews to document the business requirements for a new personnel security system. Working with other technical staff I helped design the database and install the oracle DBMS. I oversaw the development testing of the software. I developed and managed the training of the personnel security staff. As part of the go live process I managed the rebadging of every INL employee using the new personnel security system. During this project I was able to smooth over some rough feelings between the IT staff and the users. In the end, everyone was working as a team. -

I developed and implement procedures that smoothed out the daily and periodic accounting functions. I instituted accounting controls over the trust funds managed by the company.

Vice President - MisDiet Center 1981 - 1990Rexburg, IdahoAs the first employee and first manager of the IT department, I built the IT organization for this rapidly expanding franchise. When I arrived all computer systems were being converted from an outside service to internal systems. Working with a consulting firm, all of the major accounting systems were brought in house. Working with some very talented employees, we developed a culture of completing projects on time, on budget, and bug free. Our team became very successful at installing both commercial software and custom developed systems. My contribution to the team was providing the vision of where we needed to go, getting the technical team members the resources they needed, insulating them from distractions, selling our services to the other departments, and keeping management informed and supportive.
