I have over 30 years’ experience in software development, consultancy and project delivery mainly in the financial services and banking areas in both Europe and the USA. As the inventor of the technology and patent owner in the area of “Automated Forms Processing”, which is the accurate capture of hand written information on forms using imaging technology. I established a profitable business exploiting this technology in the 1990s by implementing leading edge image based forms processing systems in the area of check clearing and automated payments for such banks as NatWest, Lloyds TSB, AIB and Bank of Ireland. For the three years prior to founding Internet Payments Patents Ltd in 2000, I was involved in consulting on an independent basis with such organizations as SWIFT, and as a senior consultant of an international consulting firm, working with companies such as British Energy and AIB Credit Cards.IPPL was established to exploit my invention of a secure, yet easy to use online and mobile wallet payment system. This patent was applied for in February 2000 and was granted in Europe EP1264259 and the USA in January 2009 US7,483,858. In early 2013, I founded Fortress Payments specifically to exploit this Patent for Mobile Payments. This system for the first time enables Customers to authorize the payment to the Merchant on their phone, before it is processed. (PSD2 compliant) The system can use NFC or QR Codes or other technologies to enable the transfer of the transaction details to the Customer's phone and all of these technologies may be incorporated into a single Mobile Wallet or Merchant App. The system is totally secure and fully integrates Coupons and Loyalty Schemes.I was the designer of the QR Code solution for MCX (Walmart, Target, Best Buy etc.) in the USA in 2012 and the PayPal online payments solution was based on a disclosure of the proprietary technology to PayPal in 2002. Stripe Payments is a copy of the PayPal system and therefore also based on this patented technology. The AliPay QR Code solution is also based on a disclosure of this technology as is the MasterPass system.The latest version of this technology is FORTRESS PAY is based on proprietary NFC technology that will be the subject of a new Patent Application.
